Nestled in the serene village of Thulodarlung, our farm embodies the spirit of Nepal’s coffee heritage. This secluded location, reachable only after a challenging four-hour off-roading journey, is a testament to the dedication behind every bean we produce. The unique terroir of our region, with its high altitude, cool climate, and nutrient-rich soil, provides ideal conditions for coffee cultivation, imparting a distinct flavor profile to our beans.

Coffee plants thrive under the natural shade of banana trees, which not only protect the plants from direct sunlight but also contribute organic matter to enrich the soil. The diverse ecosystem of our farm, including fruits like oranges and gooseberries, plays a crucial role in creating complex and vibrant flavor profiles in our coffee.

The farmers who cultivate our coffee are predominantly smallholders, relying on coffee as a critical source of income. Despite facing challenges such as limited irrigation and labor-intensive farming due to the hilly terrain, these hardships contribute to the coffee’s unique characteristics. The beans are nurtured under these challenging conditions, resulting in a robust and vibrant flavor profile unmatched by more commercially grown products.

Our region's terroir is also enhanced by the integration of traditional farming methods, where every stage of cultivation and harvesting is handled with care and precision. This dedication ensures that each batch of coffee captures the essence of Thulodarlung’s rich agricultural heritage.

CULTIVAR

Our unique cultivar process is at the heart of what makes Durlung Coffee exceptional. Staying true to our local roots, our farmers rely on traditional methods, avoiding fancy equipment and doing everything by hand. The only time we use machines is during the roasting process, ensuring the rest of our production remains natural and artisanal.

One of our standout methods is our anaerobic process, which has gained popularity for its rich and flavorful results. By incorporating oranges, gooseberries, and other fruits grown alongside our coffee plants on the farm, we create a distinctive flavor profile that sets Durlung Coffee apart. This harmonious integration of fruits and coffee enhances the natural taste, making each cup a unique experience.
